We’re proud to celebrate our technician Kate Osborn, who is featured in Scientists Making a Difference, a new book created to inspire young people to explore the many paths into science and STEM careers.
Written by Dr. Shini Somara // CEng FIMechE EngD HonFIED and developed in collaboration with Imperial College London and Gatsby Charitable Foundation, the book profiles 47 scientists whose work is helping to change the world.
Kate’s feature shines a light on the vital contribution technicians make to science and innovation. As an Experimental Operations Technician, she is part of a team exploring the potential of fusion energy, work that could help shape the future of clean, safe electricity generation.
Every state-funded secondary school in the UK will receive free copies of the book and supporting resources, helping students discover real people working in STEM and the different routes into those careers, including apprenticeships, T-Levels and technical pathways.
Congratulations, Kate. We’re delighted to see her work recognised and to help champion the role technicians play in inspiring the next generation.
