The Numerical Physics team have recently begun to explore the application of machine learning techniques for optimisation, surrogate modelling, and uncertainty quantification. We are currently looking to establish a new group within the Numerical Physics team, whose role will be to expand our activity in these data science fields and others.
You will bring your experience and expertise in data science to enhance the numerical modelling underpinning our approach. There will also be opportunity to contribute to the data processing and interpretation of complex experimental diagnostics. You have a broad knowledge of machine learning techniques and data modelling. You must be able to use that knowledge to solve new challenges and provide guidance and leadership to other scientists within the technical team.
This is a new position within the numerical physics team, as such you will have opportunity to bring your own attributes to inform and develop First Light’s core capabilities. This is a management-track position reporting to the Head of Numerical Physics.
