First Light Fusion

We are a lean, focused and agile Inertial Fusion Energy (IFE) company. We spun out from the University of Oxford in June 2011 and are based near Oxford. The company is well-funded by both institutional investors and private individuals.

IFE is a well-established and collaboratively in both private and public sector moving towards Power Plant technology worldwide. At First Light we continue to develop our Amplifier Technology, using in house simulation and our experimental capability to verify our experiments. We achieved fusion in 2021 and continue to evolve our solutions to solve fusion power by the simplest means possible.

We really believe fusion will be on the grid in the 2030s. If it’s solved by us, fantastic, if it’s solved by someone else, still great.
